Walk Through Living History Day in the Park
Join the 2nd USCT on May 11 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the Speed Spencer Stephens Park
Emancipated; Now What!
At 12 PM, Dr. Anthony Thompson, joined by fellow historians and researchers, will lead a rousing discussion on the Emancipation Documents, Events following May 20, 1865 and Impact of current policies.
Vendors
This event includes retail and other vendors throughout the park. Attendees can enjoy refreshing drinks and meals, shop with local retailers, and learn more about social and other services available throughout the community. For vendor information, click below
REENACTORS
Step back in time and meet USCT soldiers, learn how to weave, ride horses, watch the blacksmith master his kraft and talk with a few historical characters.
THE VILLAGE
Children ages 2 - 12 will enjoy the arts, crafts and games available in the Village. Obtaining a passport and completing a “Trip through Time,” earns a free ticket for train and horse rides
PERFORMANCES
Appearing on the Main Stage will be a showcase of local talents incuding storytelling and musical performaces. There will also be a May Pole demonstration.
ART AND ESSAY CONTEST WINNERS
At 1 PM, the 2024 Art and Essay Contest Winners will be announced. Throughout the day, the essays and art projects will be on display. The contests are currently underway. For more information go to our art and essay pages.
