ART CONTEST GUIDELINES
ELIGIBILITY
The Art Contest is open to any student attending grades K through 5.
DATES
The contest opens on February 20, 2024 and ends on April 5, 2024.
Winners will be announced as part of the “Walk Through Living History” Day in the Park, on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at Speed Spencer Stephens Park in Tallahassee, FL.
Winners will be contacted prior to this date.
PRIZES
Prizes will be awarded as follows:
Grades K - 2
1st Place - $75.00
2nd Place - $50.00
3rd Place - $25.00
Grades 3 -5
1st Place - $75.00
2nd Place - $50.00
3rd Place - $25.00
ART THEME
Reproduce a picture of a United States Colored Solider using mixed media.
REQUIREMENTS
The artwork must meet the following requirements:
Must be an original work with limited guidance from others.
Artwork can consist of any mixed media such as: tissue paper, string, buttons, stones, fabric, wood, paint, cotton, rice, etc.
The maximum size of the artwork should not exceed 12in x 18in.
The picture used for the reproduction must be accompanied with the artwork.
Identifying information (such as artist’s name) should not appear in/on the art or be identifiable in the artwork.
Must be accompanied by an Official Entry Form and received on April 5, 2024, to the John G. Riley Center and Museum
JUDGING
Artwoork will be judged on the following:
Follows the theme (20 points)
Creative use of materials (30 points)
Balance, form, and use of space (20 points)
Neatness (20 points)
Proper Submission of the Art Package (10 points)
Total score possible per judge is 100 points.
SUBMISSION
All artwork and the Official entry form should be dropped off at:
John G. Riley Center/Museum
419 East Jefferson Street
Tallahassee, FL 32301.
Artwork can only be received on April 5, 2024, between 6 pm and 8 pm
